He says he will introduce a ‘life initiative’ in the 2017 session, which will focus on restricting the sale of fetal body parts, which was the subject of a series of controversial undercover videos of Planned Parenthood in Texas and elsewhere last year.

“Texas may be where Roe v. Wade began, but now Texas is leading the nation in passing pro-life laws protecting more innocent life than ever before,” Abbott said. “There’s a lot more that we need to do next session.”
“We are hoping that the Legislature will ban that practice,” said Dr. Joe Pojman of the Texas Alliance for Life. “I would point out that the Governor is very supportive of this proposal.”
Pojman says fetal tissue should never be used for medical research.
“I would like to see that stopped,” he said. “That should never be going on in any of our public or private universities.”

But Joe Pojman, director of the anti-abortion group Texas Alliance for Life, identified one organization that seemed interested in this task. Pojman said that while following the new regulation will likely cost more than clinics’ current method of disposing abortion remains, the financial difference could easily be covered by Our Lady of the Rosary, an Austin cemetery.

The Texas Alliance for Life said in a statement on June 28 that they were disappointed with the U.S. Supreme Court decision, and that the organization would “scrutinize this decision, hostile as it is to reasonable safety regulations, to find ways to increase abortion facility safety regulations as much as possible.”
